Home light the way nature intended
What is Intuitive Lighting?
Intuitive lighting uses smart lights to provide illumination fit (Glo) for the right moment and aligned with your circadian rhythm.
Why Use Intuitive Lighting?
Caffeinate in the morning, sedate in the evening… naturally.
If light doesn’t automatically transition through cool and warm shades, we tolerate the wrong light. Blue wave length light boosts attention and mood, great for waking and working. But even our phones know to reduce blue light at night, because it suppresses melatonin, key to feeling drowsy.
HomeGlo creates “Glos” – presets of warmth and brightness – for a range of energy levels in each room. A Glo Schedule maps time of day to a Glo.
HomeGlo the right light, day and night
The Glo (brightness and color) of your home’s light is based on the schedule you design. If the lights in a room are on, they’ll transition based on the schedule. Going to bed early or unplanned late-night monopoly game? Use a wall or portable switch to override the schedule and get the Glo that makes sense.
Embrace your circadian rhythm. Light with blue wavelengths boosts attention, mood and reaction time. Set an alarm to wake to blue light – or press your bedside wake button when you’re ready to slowly be nudged to wakefulness.
Intuitive Lighting, Everywhere
Even your mobile phone knows to reduce blue light at night – it looks bad, feels bad, and suppresses secretion of melatonin, the hormone that helps you sleep. With HomeGlo your home’s intuitive lighting will steadily reduce blue light as the evening progresses toward bedtime.
What is Blue Light?
Blue wavelength light is the most energetic part of visible light. Before LEDs and LCDs fifty years ago, it was only produced by very hot fire: the sun. Blue light mixes with light of other wavelengths, and typically appears white or yellow.
Necessary
Our circadian rhythm – the body’s neurological sleep-and-wake signaling system – is driven by intensity of blue wavelength light to our eyes.
Blue Light Bennifits:
- triggers cortisol and other energizing hormones
- boosts attention, cognition, and mood
- is an antidepressant
Harmful
Blue light at night is harmful – it fights our circadian rhythm by suppressing melatonin and other sleep hormones. Phones and laptops reduce blue light at night, leaving home illumination as our main exposure.
- Suppresses melatonin
- Shift circadian rhythms
- Exacerbate sleep problems
